Athanasius of Alexandria is an early Church Father, considered one of the great “Doctors of the Church.” He is the first person to identify the 27 books we now consider the New Testament. He contributed to the theological integrity of the church by struggling against Arians, who maintained that Jesus of Nazareth was of a [ ]. 1 For the acceptance of the Book of James into the New Testament canon, cf.   Self-Esteem vs. Self-Acceptance. Though related, self-acceptance is not the same as self-esteem. Whereas self-esteem refers specifically to how valuable, or worthwhile, we see ourselves, self. We will continually face moments where the feelings or faith conflict challenges us. But Jesus already has the victory. It’s up to us to make the right choice and to prepare ourselves for these times by reading and knowing the Word. He is the Living Word, and in Him is the faith we need to establish His victory .

A periodic self-checkup may be helpful, but we need to take a break from self-analyzing. There is only so far we can go before our thoughts become repetitive and banal, so the cure for low self-esteem comes with a shift in our focus. We need to shift our eyes God-ward. So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him. Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold. From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier and where he had first built an altar.
